Our Story
Once upon a time, Jill and Mike were Garmentos. Jill always wanted to open a wine bar, so one day she told Mike her idea. She said, "Let's open a wine bar known for its casual, unassuming European cafe environment." Jill wanted the staff to be like family so the atmosphere in VINO would feel as relaxed and comfortable as a home.
After they decided to open the bar together, Jill (aka “Mama VINO”) set out to find this great location. It used to be a kid's haircut place, but as you can see they transformed it into this cozy gathering spot. Since their intersection was at the corner of 31st Street and Third avenue, Jill thought having 313 in the name would help customer remember their location. Since wine in Italian is VINO, this combination made a perfect name, hence VINO 313.
They knew that if they we were going to be a great restaurant, they would need to find a great Chef and boy did they! Coming from one of NYC finest restaurants he now had the opportunity to showcase his creativity and talents at VINO 313. Mike & Chef love the Jets & Yankees.
Now let's meet the rest of the VINO family.
Francisco is from Mexico City. He keeps the glasses sparkling. We just promoted him from dishwasher to cook. He is now the chefs right hand man.
Cara has been a bartender here since day 1! She has a Masters in Psychology. She is like the Derek Jeter of the staff....team captain!
Tallin is from Ohio. She is a vegetarian & always happy & funny. How does she do it? She is also a all-star....kind of like A-Rod.
Karelin is studying to be a Veterinarian so she can help sick dogs & cats. How sweet is that?
Irene's first day at VINO 313 was the week of Hurricane Irene. She is a professional dancer. Even at the end of a long shift, she always has energy to do a little salsa if she could find a partner.
Lindsay just moved to NY from Omaha, NE. She loves big city life. She is an amazing bartender. She makes the best margarita!
Tegan is from the Poconos. She teaches 8th grade & is the tallest VINO girl. She always has all her friends visit her when she is working at VINO.
Chris is our bus-boy. He is from Equador & is studying to be a nurse. He’s very into fashion. You will see him cleaning off the tables while flexing his muscles. Mike were Garmentos. Ji
